Derek Wright has recently been appointed as a non-executive director of Holloway Friendly and, subject to regulatory approvals, will chair the friendly society’s audit and risk committee.
Mike Taylor will shortly join Holloway Friendly as their member services and support director and will oversee the operational areas of the business including underwriting, servicing, claims and IT. Mike will also be a member of the Society’s executive committee and, subject to regulatory approvals, join the board, playing a key role in the implementation of the Society’s new growth strategy.
Andy Rowson joined Holloway Friendly on Monday 22nd May as the Society's new head of distribution. Andy will lead the development of Holloway Friendly’s sales and distribution strategy and will spearhead the Society’s growth in the intermediary protection market.

Derek Wright: is an actuary and has worked in both the life insurance industry and as a consultant. Derek was the chief actuary of Laurentian Life in Gloucester until its sale in 1995 after which he joined Deloitte LLP where he set up its UK actuarial practice. He was appointed a partner of Deloitte in 1999. From 2011 until his retirement in 2015 Derek led the Canadian actuarial practice of Deloitte. Much of Derek's time at Deloitte was spent on audit and risk consulting activities to the insurance industry.
Derek is also a non-executive director and chair of the audit committee of AVIVA International Insurance and represents the UK actuarial profession on the Insurance Accounting Committee of the International Actuarial Association.
Andy Rowson: Over the last 15 years Andy has held a number of strategic distribution roles in financial services. Latterly Group Director Pantheon Financial Ltd, Business Development and prior to that, head of Origen Workplace Solutions.
Mike Taylor: Mike was previously the director of underwriting at UNUM and chief underwriter and head of claims at AXA and Friends Life. Mike is a well-qualified senior leader and has been heavily involved in many strategic projects incorporating leadership, innovation and governance and risk management. Mike was also a member of the ABI’s Protection Committee and brings industry level knowledge and contacts with him, which will add significantly to the Society’s capability across a number of areas.
Last summer Holloway Friendly appointed Stuart Tragheim as its new CEO.
