Board members

  • Ian Gardner – Chairman

    Ian originally joined the Board of Management in 1977. He was in legal practise in Gloucester for 32 years before joining the Society's management in 1992 and becoming Chief Executive in 1993. Upon his retirement in 2003 he was invited to join the Board and was elected Chairman which position he continues to hold.

  • Mike Matthews – Vice Chairman

    Mike was appointed to the Committee of Management in 1991 and subsequently joined the Board upon incorporation. Mike had chaired the Audit Committee for a number of years until taking on the role of Vice Chairman in 2009. He was Production and Finance Director of a commercial printing company in Gloucester for 25 years.

  • Martin Collins – Chief Executive

    Martin is a Chartered Accountant. He joined the Society in 1994 as Financial Controller having worked for a construction company and a tyre manufacturer and distributor. He was appointed to the Board as Finance Director in 2003 and became Chief Executive in April 2010.

  • Martin Day

    Martin joined the Board in January 2010. He was a Senior Relationship Manager and Assistant Area Director for Lloyds TSB Corporate until taking early retirement in 2006. He worked for the Lloyds TSB for 37 years. He now runs his own banking consultancy practice.

  • Kieron Griffin

    Kieron qualified as a Solicitor in 1983 and has been a Partner in a firm of Solicitors in Gloucester for more than 25 years. He is also Clerk to H M Verderers Court in the Forest of Dean and has been a Board Member since 1997. He is presently Chair of the Nomination Committee.

  • Bob Perks

    Bob has been a non-executive Director since 2005 and is Chairman of the Marketing Committee. He has spent most of his career in Financial Services with Natwest and latterly as Sales and Marketing Director at Britannic Money PLC. He now runs his own consultancy practice as well as being a Director of Intermediary Group, Financial Synergies Plc. He also sits on the Board of the Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce. Bob has previous experience of friendly societies boards of management, serving some eight years prior to joining Holloway Friendly.

  • Kevin Wiltshire – Senior Independent Director

    Kevin has been a non-executive Director since 2007 and is Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is currently a senior partner with a Financial Planning practice based in the South West and is also a director of an IFA network. Kevin has over 25 years’ experience in insurance, financial services, asset management and tax planning and has previously served on the Board of another friendly society for 18 years

  • Councillor Colin Organ

    Colin is an elected Gloucester City Councillor, Cabinet Member, Housing, Health & Leisure and a Director of Gloucester City Homes. He is a previous Director Designate of Westbury Homes PLC and is the founder and owner of The Estate Agency based in Gloucester. Colin has served as a non executive Director on the Holloway Friendly Board since 1997.

  • John Holland

    John is a senior Programme Director with 33 years experience in the Insurance and Banking Industries.  John has spent much of his career working in IT and leading transformational change programmes internationally.  During his time with Zurich Financial Services John was previously the IT Director for Zurich’s UK Banking Division.

  • Mathew Manser – Sales & Marketing Director

    Mathew joined the society in 2010 as Sales & Marketing Manager from the largest privately owned intermediary insurer in Europe. Having spent several years as an adviser he took this knowledge to business and product development where he has been involved in both lending and protection markets.

     

    He was appointed to the Board in 2011 as Sales & Marketing Director and he has, along with his dedicated team, the responsibility of making sure that the Society provides the right products to the intermediary market, communicates it's values & vision and ensures that it's service exceeds even the highest of expectations.
